A Smarter Way to Care for Your Vehicle's Finish
What Is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds directly to your vehicle's paint, creating a semi-permanent layer that sits on top of the clear coat. Unlike traditional wax, which wears off and needs frequent reapplication, ceramic coating forms a durable, hydrophobic barrier that repels water, dirt, and contaminants with ease.
The result is a finish that stays cleaner longer, is easier to wash, and maintains that fresh, showroom-quality appearance well beyond what standard products can offer. It also adds a layer of defense against minor scratches, UV fading, and chemical etching from environmental exposure, all while enhancing your vehicle's depth and gloss.
At D&I, trusted professional-grade products including Gyeon, Gtechniq, and Liquid Armour are used to ensure every coating application delivers consistent, high-quality results. Whether you're looking for an entry-level package or a long-term investment in your vehicle's finish, there's an option to fit your needs. Not sure which package is right for you? Ceramic Coating vs. Traditional Wax: What's the Difference?
Traditional wax has been a go-to for vehicle care for decades, but it has its limitations. It sits on top of the paint rather than bonding to it, which means it breaks down quickly. Especially in harsh weather conditions like Atlanta's summer heat and humidity. Most wax applications last only a few weeks before they need to be reapplied, and even then, they offer minimal resistance to contaminants, UV exposure, and chemical etching from bird droppings or road grime.
Ceramic coating takes a fundamentally different approach. Rather than sitting on the surface, it chemically bonds to the paint at a molecular level, forming a hard, semi-permanent layer that is significantly more durable than anything traditional wax can offer. It repels water and contaminants with ease, resists UV fading, and holds up to the kind of everyday environmental exposure that would wear through wax in a matter of days.
The practical difference is noticeable. A ceramic-coated vehicle stays cleaner longer, is far easier to wash, and maintains its gloss and depth in a way that wax simply cannot sustain over time. Depending on the package you choose, a single application can last anywhere from one to five years. This means far less time and money spent on ongoing maintenance. If you've been relying on wax and want a more effective, longer-lasting solution for your vehicle's finish, ceramic coating is a worthwhile step up.

Precision From Start to Finish
Why Professional Application Makes All the Difference
Ceramic coating is only as good as the preparation behind it. Before any coating is applied, a detailed, multi-step process is followed to ensure every surface is perfectly clean, smooth, and ready to bond. Skipping or rushing this stage can trap imperfections beneath the coating and once the ceramic cures, those imperfections become permanent. That's why preparation is where the most time and attention is invested.
Here's what the preparation process looks like from start to finish:
1. Thorough Hand Wash
Everything begins with a deep hand wash to remove loose dirt, grime, and surface contaminants. This first step sets the foundation for everything that follows and ensures the cleanest possible surface before anything else is performed.
2. Clay Bar Decontamination
Even after a thorough wash, microscopic contaminants like iron particles, industrial fallout, tree sap, and road tar can remain embedded in the paint. A clay bar is used to carefully pull these particles from the surface, leaving the paint smooth to the touch and free of bonded contamination that would otherwise interfere with adhesion.
3. Paint Correction
With the surface clean and decontaminated, the paint is assessed for swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, and other imperfections. Depending on your package level, the appropriate stage of paint correction is performed using machine polishing to refine the surface and bring out the paint's true depth and clarity. This step is what gives the coating something truly worth preserving.
4. Surface Wipe-Down and IPA Panel Wipe
Once polishing is complete, any remaining polish residue, oils, or lubricants are removed with a final isopropyl alcohol panel wipe. This ensures the surface is completely clean and free of any substances that could prevent the ceramic from bonding correctly.
5. Ceramic Coating Application
With the surface fully prepped, the ceramic coating is applied panel by panel in a controlled environment, ensuring even coverage, proper leveling, and full bonding before the coating is allowed to cure.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ceramic Coating
How long does ceramic coating last?
Longevity varies depending on the package you select, the condition of the vehicle's paint, and how well the coating is maintained over time. Each package is designed to offer a different level of long-term coverage, and each one includes a warranty. Reach out for specific details on what's included with each option.
Does my car need to be prepped before ceramic coating is applied?
Proper surface preparation is essential for a successful ceramic coating application. The process includes decontamination and paint correction before any coating is applied, ensuring a clean, smooth surface that allows the ceramic to bond correctly.
Can ceramic coating be applied to a new vehicle?
Applying ceramic coating to a new vehicle is one of the best ways to preserve its finish from the very beginning. It's much easier to maintain a finish that has never been exposed to heavy contamination or wear.
Will ceramic coating prevent all scratches?
Ceramic coating adds a layer of hardness to your vehicle's finish that helps resist light scratches and swirl marks, but it is not a substitute for paint protection film, which offers a higher level of impact resistance. For maximum coverage, many clients choose to combine both services.
How do I care for my vehicle after ceramic coating?
Ceramic coating is low-maintenance by design. Regular washing with a pH-neutral soap is all it takes to keep the finish looking great. Avoid automatic car washes with abrasive brushes, and try to wash your vehicle in the shade when possible.
